Content- based materials (voice over Power presentation).

In this blog, I will be writing on how to teach on the “Thermometer”. From grade five social studies. I have chosen this topic because it appealed me the most because we can easily teach the concepts to the students through using ICT features like, Camtasia, PowerPoint presentation, and simulation, here I had mainly focused on PowerPoint presentation and simulation to teach the contents/topic thinking that child won’t feel bored and further to comprehend the text, therefore I had planned the lesson in such a way to capture the needs of multiple learners in the class.

Creation of the teaching learning materials.

I have created a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint. I made sure to use tools present in Microsoft PowerPoint. Moreover, to make my teaching and learning more meaningful, I made sure to use graphics and photographs that are relevant to my topic. I also did an exclusion brainstorming/mind mapping on how I should proceed on with the presentation. Before I dive into the creation of the presentation, I downloaded some necessary materials like images of thermometer, snow, and places etc. from the internet. Then I have created the my Power point presentation on the blank slides, and I wrote the title of my lesson “ Thermometer”, I kept the white background for the slides and I used Time New Roman throughout my slide/presentation.  I wrote some of the definition, units, and conversion of Celsius to Fahrenheit with the help of textbox. Further to minimize the complication, I have used simple and understandable sentences throughout my slides. Moreover, I also emphasized on visual presentation, through adding animations in every slides thinking that learners will enjoy my teaching, after completion of creating presentation, I put voice over the entire slides using slide show pane. Then I saved the narration, after that I converted the presentation into video. While doing this we need to go to the file and selected export and clicked on creates a Video, after that we need to name our file and then cluck save.

 When the material should be used.

This content-based material is going to use the content based material (simulation and voice over PowerPoint presentation), during the lesson development because through voice over presentation we are going to see and listen carefully. The merits of voice over presentation are students will be able see the picture of the thermometer, formula of conversion along with its description. Moreover I as I had emphasized more on combination of the texts and pictures in my voice over presentation will surely help them to comprehend the concepts/understand the explanation so through voice over presentation, I want to ensure the students to;

      Define the thermometer after the presentation.

      Draw and level the thermometer after the lesson.

      Convert Centigrade to Fahrenheit and vice versa.



So therefore to make use of this content based materials, teachers must integrate those ICT tools in our daily lesson, moreover the classroom must be well equipped with a projector, laptop, and smart-phone as well. Without this teaching and learning won’t take place in fruitful manners.

 How to do an Activity

I have mainly designed this activity to cater to the diverse learners in the class as well as to check students' understanding on the topic. And let children do everything kindheartedly, if they have any queries I won’t mind giving my helping hands to them.

Content Based Materials.

Kuzu Zangpo everyone, today I have designed the content based materials specially for grade three on the topic “ Estimating Quantity”,  from mathematics. The main intentional behind the creation of this materials/ by the end of the lesson each child we be; able to define estimates correctly after the teacher's explanation. Count numbers from 30 to 100 correctly after the explanation and Estimate the number of quantities in “ten numbers” in the correct sequence after the activity. Here I have used Camtasia Studio 2008 as one of the ICT tools that I have integrated into my lesson, thinking that students can revisit whenever they need to learn. Moreover, Camtasia Studio plays pivotal roles in delivering our lesson since; it is prevailing video editing software, an easy to use demonstration and education video platform. Therefore this time I have emphasized on Camtasia for mode of delivering my lesson, thinking that children can rewind the lesson at any time.

How did I create the materials? 

After knowing the importance of creation materials I have solely invested myself in preparing a PowerPoint presentation about estimating quantity, after that I engaged in screen recording with the use of Camtasia Studio. I have designed Camtasia video lessons with the incorporation steps of PowerPoint presentation and ways of creating video lessons using Camtasia Studio.

First of all I have change the style into Times New Roman, then I have change the background of my presentation into white since it looks okay, then, I focused on adding images; in this case I have looked at following areas like; clicking the import media, insert cubes from the folder, select the image and click open and drag the images to my slides, so I have inserted pictures downloaded from internet to hold up the concept and easy to comprehend the lesson. And I have used different animation throughout the slides, in-case of introducing the topic, displaying the lesson objectives and highlighting the key words I have used for entrance animation, whereas in pictures I have used (wipe) and followed by fade animation and all. The reasons behind using this animation are to make my presentation more memorable and dynamic for the students. 

I have used Camtasia Studio 2008 to record the screen option and started recording. In fact it is hard for me to face the camera in the first place. I somehow managed to come up with a video tutorial. I am glad that through these tools I have meaningfully imparted the concepts as if I were teaching face to face in the classroom (Contact Teaching). Then I saved my recording. After that, I started exploring Camtasia video editing features like cut, split, transition, zoom-n-pan options. Right after that I saved the video from produce and share option by selecting the MP4 with the video player (up to 720p) because it will give the best version of graphics compared to other options.

When should the materials be used?

I have created the materials to use during lesson development and conclusion. Because main intention is to impart some content knowledge to the students,  thorough this video lesson teachers and students will feel the real charm of teaching and learning as if having the normal classes, therefore it will comes under information input/lesson development further to make my video lesson more meaningful I have explored different Camtasia features to come up with presentable video tutorial besides that I have used simple language while teaching, so that children can understand the concepts easily. The sole purpose of using this video tutorial in the lesson development is that students can revisit whenever they have doubts, they can pause the video if he/she is facing some difficulties in understanding the concepts. In addition teachers can also pause the video and re-teach to the students etc and finally to carry out the activity.

 Content- Based Materials

This time I have created my new content- based material for grade IV. The subject I have chosen is Social Studies and the topic is “Types of Transportation”. The main objective is to let the students identify and tell the name of the transportation correctly after the explanation.  I have planned a lesson in such a way that students can feel the real charm of learning and it is more of practice- based learning. I have used Camtasia video lesson as a mode of delivering my lesson and the main reason behind using this is to plead to all levels of learners and the learning style. I feel this video lesson will surely be of help to comprehend and learn better  because students can pause the video/ revisit the lesson whenever they feel like to learn whereas in PowerPoint presentation  there is no option for pause because it goes on and on. Thus, video lesson helps them to comprehend the content better and it makes effective teaching and learning.

Moreover, I have downloaded appropriate pictures from the internet in order to give a better concept if I am not mistaken children loved to learn through animated pictures, graphics and simulation at the same time as they can retain the information for longer period of time.  I have inserted some background music, sounds made by transportation in some slides because it will helps students to understand the contents better and able to tell the names of different transportation. I have even used simple and different animations to grab their attention toward learning and avoid distractions.

How did I create materials?

The entire slide, I have inserted animated pictures of different transportation and added emphasis animation (grow/shrink) in each picture. Here, I have also inserted the sounds accordingly and I hope they will learn better. To check their level of understanding I gave those couple of questions to be done.   Then, I saved the ppt file and converted into video.

When should the materials be used?

The materials can be used in lesson development, and learning activity. In lesson development, I will take students through types of transportation via video lesson moreover they can revisit the lesson whenever they feel like to learn/encounter with doubts and I  have given the clear instruction about the activity thinking that child can easily understand what they are supposed to do. After going through and listen to the power point presentation, students need to write answers for the following questions for 10 minutes.

Teaching and learning Eight Figurative Speech Interactive PowerPoint.

I know students are fade –up with traditional method of teaching and yes I feel it is more of teacher centered too, besides that students engagement and their exploration were forbidden. No worries in this technology world let us feel the real charms of teaching and learning through the ICT integration, I know you will really enjoy our every day’s session. Moreover, It shows the paradigm shift of learning toward students centered whereby learning is not merely a monotonous but it is more of hands on experiment, I can see most of the Bhutanese classroom are transformed into digitized classroom, after his Majesty addressed on Educational reforms in 17 December, 2020 and here after our country will be step into the world of technology and everything can be done via internet. Even though there is lack of computers at home or schools but every Bhutanese student has got Smartphone’s to retrieve the information, further the pandemic made every teacher and students over the nation to switch upon technology integrated teaching and learning, hereafter the education landscape in Bhutan has  to undergo digitized classrooms. So therefore, I have created one lesson integrating technology using PowerPoint where videos, interactive quizzes and audios are used to teach the lesson.

In this blog, I will be writing on how to teach on the “Eight parts of speech”. From English grammar, grade three integrating ICT. I have chosen this topic because it appeals to me the most as well as it is very important for teachers to take students through the basic grammar world.

Lesson Objectives: By the end of the lesson, each child will be able to;

- write the definition of eight parts of speech correctly after the teacher’s explanation.

-write at least two examples for each part of speech correctly after the activities.

-identify the parts of speech that come across while reading any text.

Creation of the Materials.

These Teaching learning Materials can created to teach the eight parts of speech I have created the images with features to build the curiosity and interest of students so that they can learn concepts easily. I have prepared this animated video as follows: 

  • Prepared in PowerPoint presentation.
  • Use different types of images to teach each parts of speech. 
  • Inserted animation to each images and sentences.
  • Saved PowerPoint presentation as window media video. 
  • Drag the video in window movie maker and added background music and voice narration.

When should the material be used.

This content-based material is going to be used by a teacher to impart the daily lesson and I take students through the topic ‘Eight Parts of Speech’. So these content materials will be used to introduce the lesson through/ face to face teaching and learning through online platform, in this 21st century mode of learning can be take place through anywhere at any time because every individual can access to internet and they are no longer relying on the teachers and textbooks for the sources of information, we can easily extract plenty of resources through online. So it made teachers job easier, having studied the ICT integration lesson, It boost me use conduct online class with the use of PowerPoint presentation, video lessons online quiz because this kind of strategy will surely children to comprehend the text better, in addition to that the children can get a clear idea of their learning.

Content based learning materials

ICT Integration in Primary Classroom.

The teacher can use ICT in the classroom as an informative tool. It is an application that provides a large amount of information in various formats such as text, graphic, sound and video. Chen and Hsu (1999), define an informative tool as a passive repository of information. It is considered to be the most significant ICT tools in an e-learning environment because it provides us with vast information. I believe that the internet is like a virtual textbook, reference library and virtual tutor.

How and why I created the Materials.

After knowing the importance of ICT integration, I feel teacher must utilize the platform such as Google classroom, zoom, and Google Docs, for additional means of teaching and learning. Moreover, the teacher will ensure that the parents have access to the teacher's blog and other online platforms, whereby children learn the content without any problems, I can still remember where my previous teachers walked for an hour to visits students house and clarify their doubts, book correction and vice versa but nowadays we can easily clarify our doubts through telecommunication, internet (We Chat, Instagram, Facebook and telegram etc.) it makes work easier for both the teachers and students. Besides, an online class plays pivotal roles during the time of covid-19 pandemic. where we had to immediately switch to the digitalized classroom and had formal classes through Zoom meet and Google classroom etc.  

Today I am going to blog about the content-based materials for class Three, Mathematics and the topic that I have chosen is "3-D Shapes under chapter, five Geometry, I found this topic can easily teach through ICT integration and it will be worth teaching and learning through representation (Simulation, PowerPoint, pictures and video tutoring). Most of the researchers suggest us to teach the lesson through concrete meaning where teacher demonstrates/ giving the clues of concepts, then representation, whereby both teachers and students needs to engage together to complete the task and gradually, switch on to the abstract ideas where children can do the task independently.  

In this blog I also emphasized concrete, representation, and abstract ideas to teach contents by ICT integration like Camtasia, PowerPoint  as a tools to deliver my lesson/contents, my PowerPoint comprises of Quiz on 3D Shapes just to recapitulate or check the students prior knowledge before we dive into the formal session. In lesson input I will disseminate the information about 3-D shape  and their properties,  and in closure I will lets children to complete the worksheet. To come up with that PowerPoint presentation and the video lesson I had to to rely on the internet to get the images of 3 D-Shapes and to have an interesting session I have also used some animation like motion, entrance and so on… my main purpose of making this video lesson is to substitute contact teaching (face to face teaching ) and I feel Google classroom, Zoom Meet, We- Chat, and telegram as additional means to inculcate our daily lesson, this kind of forum will help them to raise their voice at any time by leaving the text in the we-chat or Google classroom etc. The main reason behind of developing this resources is to benefits/caters the diverse learners in the class.  

When should the materials be used..

I have created this resources mainly to impart knowledge about 3- D shape and it is going to be used in lesson introduction, lesson development and closure).  In the lesson introduction  I am going to conduct a short quiz on 3-D shape just to revisit/ check the students prior knowledge and to let students to guest what are going to learn, this materials can be also use in lesson development where I will take children through the definition of 3-D shape, Examples of 3- D shape as well. Moreover I have planned the activity in such a way to capture the students interest and made them engaged in the activity that is completing the worksheet by looking at the 3- D shape and write their faces, edges and vertices and the materials can be also used in lesson closure where I can summarize the session.
